TAWA Names the Volvo XC60 the 2018 SUV of Texas

The Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) recently announced that the Volvo XC60 had been awarded the title of 2018 SUV of Texas, with the all-new SUV also earning awards for Best Connectivity and Best Powertrain. The awards were handed out at this year's Texas Truck Rodeo, which occurred over a two day period at the Longhorn River Ranch.

The XC60 offers three engine options, starting with the standard turbocharged engine that produces 250 horsepower. There's also an available 316 horsepower turbo- and supercharged engine, but we -- and TAWA -- are big fans of the available 400 horsepower T8 Twin Engine. This engine, which was TAWA named Best Powertrain, offers the only plug-in hybrid electric vehicle in its segment. It offers the power of the Porsche Macan Turbo and still achieves better EPA numbers than the Prius C.

In a press release, Anders Gustafsson, Senior Vice President Americas and President and CEO, Volvo Car USA, declared, "Volvo is very proud to get this incredible recognition for the all-new XC60 from TAWA. The XC60 brings all of the award-winning technology from the XC90 to an even more popular market segment."
