Tips to Show You How to Jump Start Another Car

To easily jump-start another car, all you need are safety goggles, gloves, jumper cables, and a wire brush. Once the cars are nose-to-nose, turn off the engine and the car lights. Open the hoods and use the wire brush to clean any corrosion on the terminals of both batteries.

The jumper cables have two red and two black clamps. One red to the positive of the good battery first, then the other red to the positive on battery needs to be jumped. Black to the negative on the good battery first, then the other black clamp is to be attached to any exposed metal surface on the car getting jumped to help avoid a spark. Turn over the car, wait two minutes while it idles, now try and start the other car.

At Volvo of Melbourne, we have a full crew here that can test and replace the car battery for you if needed.
